The Two main DESIGN DECISIONS

BLACK

The colour black was chosen as it absorbs heat and doesn’t reflect it. So as long as the area below has ventilation, the area will stay cooler.

White reflects the heat, but is very bright to look at on a sunny day.
Grey is a medium reflector, but not as good s black.
Primary colours red, yellow and blue distort your colour vision.

Fibreglass coated mesh

Of all the materials tried, fibreglass mesh was the one that offered a good mixture of:

Strength. It is very strong and even when cut it is very difficult to tear.

Size/weight. Weighs less than 1 kilo and about the size of a shoebox

A good windbreak can be very expensive.

Bulky

Taking up valuable space in the garage.

heavy

Adding more weight to the payload.

Complicated

With Poles and guy ropes and time consuming.

I am proud to make what are probably the strongest and simplest tie down storm straps within the motorhome and campervan industry.

As you can see most tie down storm straps are made from 20mm or 25mm webbing, with lots of parts including inferior metal and plastic connectors

I use one piece 50mm webbing. They have six rows of stitching on each end of the webbing, so have no week point (the plastic adjuster takes no strain). As shown on the video on the gallery page, you do not have to assemble them or have any plastic clips. See video here
They take less than a minute to set up and even less to take down.
They can be removed in seconds in an emergency.

Hello Tony,

I bought a sun/wind screen from you at the recent Malvern show and just wanted to say how pleased I am with it.

After a chat with you, I bought the 2.5m x 1.8m version and am happy to say it fits perfectly on the Thule awning which comes standard on my VW California T6.1.

It works just as advertised and is extremely easily to put up and take down.

We spoke about whether the screen would work with storm straps and I enclose a couple of images for you, showing how it works on the California for future reference.

I have straps which slot into the awning legs and there is no interference. I could have bought the 1.5m x 1.8m version but that would have left gaps either side, as you said.

Speedy replies to emails and next day deliver on the shade we ordered. Looking forward to our trip this week to use the shade, also love the storage bag which is so handy.  We also bought awning storm straps which are good quality and nice and bright to be visual when attached.

Purchased a 3m x 1.8m sun screen to fit onto my Swift motorhomes canopy, at the motorhome show held at the Royal Cornwall show ground in July 2026.It does exactly that, with no hassle. Good quality materials used and super customer service.

Phoned Tony to enquire about a sunshade for my Thule wind out canopy and got smashing advice. Subsequently placed an order which was actioned the same day and received my sunshade by Royal Mail 24 hr tracked the next day.
Sunshade looks exactly what I was looking for and of brilliant quality.
